Dear Families,It is hard to believe we are already approaching the end of October.  Excluding today and a handful of other days, we have enjoyed a beautiful and relatively warm fall. Since the start of the school year, it has been wonderful to see the momentum of learning and the wide variety of extracurricular activities taking place across Limestone schools. As we head into November next week, I want to share a few updates with you:See Yourself in Limestone – Student Census SurveyInformation was shared with families earlier this week regarding the upcoming See Yourself in Limestone Student Census. The census is a voluntary and confidential survey for students in Grades 4 to 12. Please note, there was one error in the message shared with you regarding the dates of the Student Census. The correct dates are November 24 to 28, 2025.As a reminder, families who do not want their student(s) to complete the survey must contact their school Principal by Friday, November 14, 2025. Opting out means the student will not receive the survey in their e-mail inbox.By better understanding students’ identities and experiences, we can remove barriers and better support students in accessing what they need to succeed.Learn more about the Student Census and how it supports equity in Limestone: <a href="https://www.limestone.on.ca/student_census" class="editor-link">limestone.on.ca/student_census</a>Reminder: Upcoming PA Day – November 14, 2025A reminder to families that Friday, November 14 is a Professional Activity (PA) Day for all Limestone students. This update is interim because we are still awaiting the release of 2024-2025 EQAO data and other provincial data. These materials help students learn about the lived experiences of Indigenous peoples in Canada and encourage thoughtful reflection on building a better future.To request free access, families can contact TFO directly at <a href="mailto:support@idello.org" class="editor-link">support@idello.org</a>.Do not miss this opportunity to bring meaningful French-language learning and cultural reflection into your home!Ministry and Board Resources for Math and LiteracyThere are many resources available designed to support your student’s learning in math and literacy, offering engaging activities that can make learning fun and effective for students and families. <a href="https://www.limestone.on.ca/tutoring" class="editor-link">Visit Limestone’s Online Learning Resources and Tutoring webpage</a> to learn more. Inclement Weather SeasonAs we approach the inclement weather months (roughly early November to early April), our transportation partner, Tri-Board Student Transportation Services (Tri-Board), works closely with their school bus companies to determine if it is safe to offer school transportation on inclement weather days. School buses function differently than other vehicles, and sometimes, although it is safe for the average family vehicle to travel, it is not safe for a school bus to be on the road. Due to the geographic size of our district, weather conditions can vary significantly from one region to another. As a result, there are times when transportation cancellations may only apply to specific areas experiencing adverse conditions, while other regions remain unaffected. Having to cancel school transportation is understandably disruptive to families, but Tri-Board always puts the safety of their 30,000-plus bus riders first and foremost in their decision-making. Upcoming Student Census Survey

Dear Families,Limestone is committed to supporting every student in achieving success. To do this, we need to better understand how students’ identities, experiences, and academic outcomes are connected. That is why we are launching our second See Yourself in Limestone Student Census Survey this November.The Student Census is a voluntary survey for students in Grades 4 to 12. It gathers information about students’ identities and their experiences at school. This data is then paired with academic information to help us understand what school is like for different groups of students.It is important to note that:<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">The survey is optional.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Responses are confidential.</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Students can choose to answer as much or as little of the survey as they wish.</li></ul>The goal is to identify ways schools can better support students and ensure everyone has what they need to succeed. The insights we gain will help Limestone break down barriers and improve school experiences for all students.The census will be available from November 24 to 28, 2025, and students will complete it during class time. If you prefer that your student not participate, you can opt them out by contacting your school principal. Please ensure your students are dressed for the weather (layers help), and bring a hearty lunch and refillable water bottle!<ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">Gould Lake - October 27th: Students will explore the beauty of fall while participating in various outdoor programs. Permisson forms are live on School Day. </li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem" style="text-align: start;">No. 9 Gardens - October 30th: The self-identified Indigenous student group will be visiting this sustainable garden with the LDSB Indigenous Team, and some students from JG Simcoe PS and Bath PS, to learn about environmental stewardship and creative ways to care for our planet. Permission forms are live on School Day. </li></ul>Check out our upcoming events at school: 🎃 Halloween Spirit Day - Friday, October 31We’ll be celebrating Halloween with an Orange and Black Day! Students are encouraged to come dressed in orange and black to show their spooky spirit. Our intermediate students are planning some fun dances for Friday with a cash canteen to begin fundraising for Grade 8 graduation - more information to follow. Please leave costumes and masks at home so we can focus on fun and learning throughout the day.🎃 SAC Fundraiser - November 4: Drive-Thru Pumpkin & Gourd Drop-OffOur School Advisory Council is organizing a Gourd and Pumpkin Drop-Off Fundraiser on Monday, November 4 from 8:30-9:30 am and 3-6 pm. Families are invited to drop off any unwanted and unpainted gourds or pumpkins to help support our sustainability and fundraising efforts. Payment can be made by cash or card at the drop-off location: $5 for one and $10 for 3. Thank you for helping us make the most of the fall harvest while supporting student resources!Senior volleyball practice information can be found on School Day. Permission is required as weekly practices are also after school. Don’t worry! If your student can’t make the after school practice they are still on the team. More information about the end-of-season tournament will follow from the coaches Mrs. Overvelde and Mr. Fields-Young in the coming weeks! If your student is in Senior Kindergarten, Grade 1 or Grade 2 and scored below or well below benchmark on their Early Reading Screener, you will receive a letter with their results this week if you haven't already. Please connect with your student's teacher if you'd like more information. As the weather continues to shift this fall, we encourage all students to dress appropriately for the changing temperatures. Layers, waterproof jackets, and proper footwear help keep students comfortable and ready for outdoor play and learning. We often go outside for recess and learning even with a mild drizzle - we love the fresh air and the oppotunity to move around outside. The city soccer fields are closed for the season. This means, our intermediate students can no longer use these fields during recesses until the Spring!Our Kindergarten yard gates will be locked Monday through Friday all day, but open on weekends. We will still continue to have the gates open by the bus lane to receive students in the morning before school. Thank you for your understanding. We ask that special personal items, such as stuffed animals, mini cars, Pokémon cards, or other small treasures, stay at home. While we understand how comforting or exciting these items can be, they are easily lost or misplaced during the busy school day. We want to avoid upset students or missing belongings, so please help us by keeping these special items safe at home.We kindly ask that students wear appropriate footwear for active play, especially for recess and physical education (gym). Sneakers or closed-toe athletic shoes with secure fastenings are ideal to help students move safely and comfortably and prevent injury. Sandals, flip-flops, Crocs, boots, or slip-on shoes can increase the risk of trips, falls, or injuries during active times. Thank you for helping us keep students safe and ready to participate fully in all activities!Finally, as students continue to build friendships and grow socially, we are gently reminding everyone of the importance of respecting personal space and keeping hands and feet to themselves. These are important parts of fostering safe, kind, and inclusive peer relationships for all.As always, thank you for your continued support. Our roster is in need of 8-10  new volunteer members! Your commitment to the Bingo Team involves a brief online training, 2-hour shifts as often as you can be involved but ideally 2-4 shifts over the next 7 months. The contract year for bingo, is April 1 - March 31st the following year. As a result, the climber is CLOSED before, during, and after school hours. Through a capital project, the contractor hired by LDSB plans to commence and complete the replacement of rubber for mulch within the next month. <h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;">Main Office</h3>Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am-4:00 pm. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. Prepare for Winter-Related Bus Delays and Cancellations

During the potential inclement weather months (roughly early November to early April), our transportation partner, Tri-Board Student Transportation Services (Tri-Board), works closely with their school bus companies to determine if it is safe to offer school transportation on inclement weather days. School buses function differently than other vehicles, and sometimes, although it is safe for the average family vehicle to travel, it is not safe for a school bus to be on the road. Due to the geographic size of our district, weather conditions can vary significantly from one region to another. As a result, there are times when transportation cancellations may only apply to specific areas experiencing adverse conditions, while other regions remain unaffected. Having to cancel school transportation is understandably disruptive to families, but Tri-Board always puts the safety of their 30,000-plus bus riders first and foremost in their decision-making.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">Tips to help make the winter season and bus cancellation days easier for families to manage:</h2><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr">Sign up for Bus Status Alerts through Tri-Board’s Student Portal</h3><ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Families should sign up for bus status alerts by creating an account in <a href="https://triboard.ca/student-portal/" class="editor-link">Tri-Board’s Student Portal</a>. Families can add their student to their account, so they are signed up to receive alerts for their specific bus and zone cancellations.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">When all transportation is cancelled across the district, the notification is sent as a general notice from Tri-Board to everyone with an account. Tri-Board does their best to post this alert by 6:00 a.m.</li><li value="3" class="editor-listitem">Tri-Board will be communicating all bus delays and cancellations. The LDSB will not be communicating this information directly with families. The best way to receive communication regarding bus cancellations or delays is through the <a href="https://triboard.ca/student-portal/" class="editor-link">Student Portal</a>.</li></ul><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr">Have a backup plan for cancellations</h3><ul class="editor-list-ul"><li value="1" class="editor-listitem">Tri-Board understands that cancelling transportation is inconvenient for families.</li><li value="2" class="editor-listitem">Tri-Board recommends creating a backup plan for alternative travel or childcare when busing is not available. If a student is taken to school when buses are not running, it is the family’s responsibility to arrange for their travel home at the end of the day.</li></ul><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr">Timing and duration of cancellations</h3>Tri-Board’s decision-making process occurs every morning and they do not normally decide to cancel transportation the night before. This is because conditions change, and Tri-Board wants to make the best decision closest to the time buses are actually on the road in the morning. To avoid students being taken to school by bus and then stranded without transportation home, Tri-Board cancels the transportation for whole day, even if inclement weather is only expected for part of the day. Sometimes weather is not as predicted and this is understandably very frustrating, but student safety is always the priority for Tri-Board.<h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr">School attendance</h3>The cancellation of school buses does not mean schools are closed. Should the need to close a school arise, that information will be communicated by the LDSB and the individual schools.All parents/guardians are asked to report their student’s absence regardless of the reason, including during bus cancellations. Often, bused students find alternative ways to school, and we want to make sure we know the whereabouts of every student to ensure their safety and well-being. Knowing who is supposed to be at school will allow school office staff to make certain all students are accounted for. Students are asked to ensure they report to their first period class for attendance.Please use the Inclement weather (all transportation types and walkers) option when reporting absences for your student for any inclement weather days when your student will not be attending school.<h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">Secondary Exam Schedule January 22 to January 28, 2026</h2>If buses are cancelled due to inclement weather at the school, exams scheduled on that day will be rescheduled to the next exam day. Subsequent exams in the exam schedule will also be rescheduled to the next exam day.Schools will communicate with families directly through e-mail if the exam schedule is adjusted due to inclement weather and bus cancellations. Information about rescheduled exams will also be posted on school websites. It will be important for families to watch for communication in the event of inclement weather. It’s always so great to see students engaging with their peers, exploring new ideas, and building their confidence each day.Wishing all of our Bayridge PS families (who are participating) a very happy Dawali! Some cultures and languages celebrate Dawali for 1, 3 or 5 days. It is India's fesitval of lights where families and friends come together for prayers, feasting, charity, home decoration, and festive joy. It holds immense spiritual and cultural significance across Hindu, Jain, Sikh, and some Buddhist communiities. This week, some families received an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) document for their student. IEPs looked a little different this year. Our Board is now using the Aspen database system, which has a new format for IEPs. While the content of your student’s plan remains the same, the layout and presentation may appear unfamiliar. IEPs are working documents and can be edited, revised, added to at any time. Whenever we make revisions, families will be notified and consulted. Family input is an important part of the IEP process. We encourage you to review your student’s IEP carefully and reach out to your student’s classroom teacher if you have any questions or would like to connect further. Thank you for completing and returning the consultation log at your earliest convenience. All students should have received their photo proofs for individual fall pictures by Edge Imaging. The deadline to order with free shipping is October 21. If your student was absent or you’d like a new photo taken, retake day and class photo day will be on November 19. After retake day, free shipping will be offered again for one month, and individual fall photos will still be available for purchase during that time.We ask that special personal items, such as stuffed animals, mini cars, Pokémon cards, or other small treasures, stay at home. While we understand how comforting or exciting these items can be, they are easily lost or misplaced during the busy school day. We want to avoid upset students or missing belongings, so please help us by keeping these special items safe at home.We kindly ask that students wear appropriate footwear for active play, especially for recess and physical education (gym). Sneakers or closed-toe athletic shoes with secure fastenings are ideal to help students move safely and comfortably and prevent injury. Sandals, flip-flops, Crocs, boots, or slip-on shoes can increase the risk of trips, falls, or injuries during active times. Thank you for helping us keep students safe and ready to participate fully in all activities!We are requesting that families who have signed up for the LunchBox program this school year review their student's teacher by clicking <a href="https://www.lunchboxorders.net/" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link">HERE</a>. We have had lots of lunches end up in wrong classes and delayed lunches. We have also reached out to LunchBox for assistance. As the weather continues to shift this fall, we encourage all students to dress appropriately for the changing temperatures. Layers, waterproof jackets, and proper footwear help keep students comfortable and ready for outdoor play and learning.Finally, as students continue to build friendships and grow socially, we are gently reminding everyone of the importance of respecting personal space and keeping hands and feet to themselves. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. We hope this season brings joy, rest, and special moments with family and friends.It was so nice to see so many families at our recent open house. Your presence and engagement mean a lot to our school community and truly help strengthen the connection between home and school.A heartfelt thank you as well to everyone who supported the Scholastic Book Fair fundraiser. Your contributions help SAC and the school provide resources for students and support other initiatives throughout the school.This year, our self-identified Indigenous students are taking part in land-based, yearlong learning with Liv Rondeau from the Indigenous Education Team. In our first session, 11 students created beautiful beaded keychains that represent elements of the natural world — like water, air, flowers, and more. These keychains will travel with them throughout the year as they take part in meaningful, hands-on experiences connected to the land, culture, and community. The next oppotunity is on October 30th with Bath Public School - see School Day to sign up. On the recent PA Day, our staff spent valuable time working together to develop our School Achievement Plan, with a focus on literacy, math, and well-being. Teachers also created their Annual Learning Plans and continued their work on Individual Education Plans (IEPs) to support student success. It was a productive day filled with collaboration and planning. We are requesting that families who have signed up for the LunchBox program this school year review their student's teacher by clicking <a href="https://www.lunchboxorders.net/" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link">HERE</a>. We have had lots of lunches end up in wrong classes and delayed lunches. We have also reached out to LunchBox for assistance. As the weather continues to shift this fall, we encourage all students to dress appropriately for the changing temperatures. Layers, waterproof jackets, and proper footwear help keep students comfortable and ready for outdoor play and learning.Finally, as students continue to build friendships and grow socially, we are gently reminding everyone of the importance of respecting personal space and keeping hands and feet to themselves. The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. We acknowledge their enduring presence on this land, as well as the presence of Métis, Inuit, and other First Nations from across Turtle Island. We honour their cultures and celebrate their commitment to this land.” <h2 class="editor-heading-h2" dir="ltr">Presentation</h2><h3 class="editor-heading-h3" dir="ltr">Facility Services Update: Summer Projects - D. Fowler, Manager of Facility Services, and C. Downie, Assistant Manager of Facility Services</h3>The Facility Services team provided an overview of the capital work that took place at schools throughout the summer. There was a total of 221 projects. Classrooms are buzzing with learning, hallways echo with laughter and conversation, and extracurricular activities are beginning to take shape—bringing students and staff together in meaningful and joyful ways. There is something special about this time of year. The early days of September are filled with renewed energy, fresh routines, and the excitement of new beginnings. Across Limestone, we are already seeing the positive impact of strong relationships, thoughtful planning, and a shared commitment to student well-being and success. We are grateful to our staff for the care and dedication they bring to their work each day, and to families for their continued partnership and support. Together, we are creating welcoming, inclusive environments where every student can thrive—both in and beyond the classroom. On behalf of the Board, thank you for all you do to make our schools vibrant, supportive places to learn and grow. We look forward to the many opportunities this year will bring. This concludes my report." </div></details><details open="false"><summary>Director's Report</summary><div data-lexical-collapsible-content="true"><img src="/images/959f9ebc-0553-5f56-afed-83ccf39d2906?fingerprint=ppb20251217014409" alt="" width="316" height="316" style="width:316px;height:316px;float:left;display:inline-block">Director Burra provided the following report: "Good evening, Trustees and the viewing public. Overall, and all things considered, I am very pleased to report that Limestone has had a positive start to the 2025-2026 school year. While there is always room for improvement, it is amazing to see everything come together with over 20,500 students and almost 3,000 staff starting the school year in all Limestone sites and the virtual school. Preliminary enrolment numbers are close to projections for both elementary and secondary students. Today was Day 11 of the 2025-2026 school year for students, and it has been wonderful to have students back in schools and to see various activities like sports, clubs, field trips, and great learning already underway helping to support the overall Limestone student experience. We must all recognize and have gratitude for the time and efforts of staff and community members to make all of these extracurricular activities a reality for students. Fall sports, clubs, and activities have started across the district, parent councils are kicking off their school years, and students are involved in a range of activities like the several hundred LDSB students that attended the Fall Fair last week in Kingston or the range of Terry Fox fundraising activities that will come in the next couple of weeks. I have already started my visits to schools, and I greatly look forward to seeing, hearing, and feeling the energy and excitement of learning and fun in Limestone schools.  As we start this school year it is important that we all are conscious of our legal responsibilities under the Ontario Human Rights Code. As a school board, we cannot accept any hate in schools, we must be conscious of the feelings of alienation and lack of faith in public institutions that exists for some people in the communities we serve.  Like in so many other areas in education and society at large, as members of the community, we must continue to emphasize the importance of respecting differences in perspective and being open to dialogue to the maximum extent possible. We must be united in respecting differences given all people share many more similarities than differences. Respect and civility need to be at the forefront. And we must continue to be unequivocally clear that Limestone stands in support of all protected grounds of the Ontario Human Rights Code. The Ontario Human Rights Code is not a checklist where some grounds outweigh others. We need to stand with all students, staff, and families, in protecting all grounds under the Code. It is important to remember that the Code is the law in Ontario, and we have a moral and legal obligation to ensure that it is upheld. Furthermore, our own data based on human rights complaints reinforces our continuing need to be committed to upholding the Code. Additionally, we will be administering Limestone’s second student census later this year which will provide further insight regarding students in the district, and needs in the system. Trustees may have noticed the Orange 'Survivors’ Flag' flying on the second flagpole at the Education Centre. Schools with a second flagpole are doing the same, and in schools without a second flagpole, the Orange flag is prominently on display in the school. Looking ahead to next two weeks, a wide range of activities will be taking place in schools and the community to honour Orange Shirt Day, and the fifth annual National Day of Truth and Reconciliation on Tuesday, September 30. This is a critical date to recognize the harm and trauma of the Residential Schools system, to honour the survivors and their families, and continue our collective learning and journey of reconciliation. Schools continue to have a critical role in supporting this journey and ensuring the truth is known about Residential Schools and their legacy in Canada. In the next couple of weeks, we will be kicking off the annual United Way of KFL&A campaign in Limestone. I invite all Trustees to join this effort. As you will hear, Limestone’s Student Trustees and their peers on the Interschool Council will also be engaging in raising funds this year to support the United Way. No amount is too little, and every dollar matters in supporting some of the most vulnerable children, youth, and families in the communities we serve. I would also like to bring to Trustees’ attention to the professional learning focus we continue to pursue in Limestone for the 2025-2026 school year. We must continue to hone our craft to best serve students. While this work will not be completed this year, I think it is critical to highlight its importance in ensuring schools are making a difference for all students today, and into their futures. We need all Limestone students to find purpose in school, to find value in school, and to find hope in school. We know this is not the case for all students. While we do have to track, monitor, and report on the 11 indicators in the provincial Student Achievement Plan, we must continue to centre those students who are currently underserved, and not currently finding success. As a result, our system focus this year for professional learning, continues to centre our attention on students, and continuing the work we started three years ago focused on three inquiry questions: First, for whom is the current education system not working and why? Second, how do I/we know? And third, what can I/we try to do differently to make a difference? It is only through improving outcomes at the individual student level that we will see macro-level improvement on the province’s three core priorities and Student Achievement Plan, and the Limestone Strategic Plan. I should note that 2024-2025 EQAO results should become public in the next couple of weeks. As educators and as a system, we have a critical responsibility in supporting children and youth in the communities we serve. Our overall purpose is well placed by emphasizing our intention to make a positive difference in the lives of every student, in every classroom, in every school; and to make sure everyone sees themselves in Limestone. All educators want to make a difference in the lives and destinies of children and youth. Our continued journey of inquiry and our united, stated intention will focus our collective efforts. I look forward to more discussion and updates regarding our progress in the coming days, weeks, months, and years. Thank you, Chair McGregor. Student Trustees introduced themselves and discussed the purpose of the Interschool Council (ISC). Then the council focused on goals for the upcoming school year and steps to put those goals into action. Across all goals there was a focus on improving student involvement in schools. Mr. Burra and a United Way presenter then joined the meeting to introduce United Way and discuss raising money for it in schools. As of September 10, 2025, a total of 103 students were enrolled in elementary virtual school: 55 LDSB students and 48 Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board (KPRDSB) students. The energy in our building continues to be positive and full of learning, teamwork, and community spirit.Our Open House is on Thursday, October 9th from 4:30-6:00 pm. From 4:30-5:30 you can meet your student's teacher, visit the classroom, tour the school, and visit Scholastic Book Fair (our school Fundraiser with SAC). Please schedule a time to meet with the teacher should you require a meeting. From 5:30-6:00 we are showing families how we "recess" and how we use our <a href="https://witsprogram.ca/programs/wits/" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link">WITS</a> (Walk Away, Ignore, Talk it out, Seek help). We encourge families to play our pavement and field games while modelling sportsmanship, co-operation, and fun! Don't forget to stop by Scholastic Book Fair (cash & credit/debit accepted) to visit the administration team and purchase some books for yourself and the class!We were proud to see our entire school come together this week in a beautiful display of support and reflection for Truth and Reconciliation Week. Students and staff created a powerful Orange Heart installation in the front of the school-an expression of our collective commitment to learning from the past and moving forward in the spirit of truth, healing, and reconciliation. Thank you to everyone who helped bring this meaningful initiative to life. As part of our ongoing learning, students in Grades 3-8 participated in a meaningful cultural assembly focused on Métis storytelling and song. This enriching experience deepened students’ understanding of Métis traditions and the power of oral histories. In addition, the first session of the land-based, year-long Indigenous education program for self-identified Indigenous students in Grades 3-8 has been postponed to October 9th in the morning. We are excited for this hands-on, experiential learning rooted in Indigenous knowledge and connection to the land.We also want to take a moment to recognize our community’s generosity and spirit during our Terry Fox School Event. Thanks to your support, we raised over $1,000 for cancer research! We are proud of our students for running with courage, purpose, and compassion in Terry’s honour.We’re also thrilled to celebrate our Senior Soccer Team, who made it to the finals the day of their tournament. Despite being defeated in the end, their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship have been outstanding. Mrs. Overvelde (coach) and all of BPS are so proud of their achievement! We are requesting that families who have signed up for the LunchBox program this school year review their student's teacher by clicking <a href="https://www.lunchboxorders.net/" rel="noreferrer" class="editor-link">HERE</a>. We have had lots of lunches end up in wrong classes and delayed lunches. We have also reached out to LunchBox for assistance. As the weather continues to shift this fall, we encourage all students to dress appropriately for the changing temperatures. Layers, waterproof jackets, and proper footwear help keep students comfortable and ready for outdoor play and learning.Finally, as students continue to build friendships and grow socially, we are gently reminding everyone of the importance of respecting personal space and keeping hands and feet to themselves. These are important parts of fostering safe, kind, and inclusive peer relationships for all.Bayridge Public School is a proud and grateful partner of Play Gaming & Entertainment, a charitable gaming organization. Our roster is in need of 8-10  new volunteer members! The plan provides protection for dental damage due to accidents, fracture benefits and other important coverage, which are not covered under the Provincial Health Plan. Some parents may have dental plan coverage through their workplace but many of these plans are limited in one way or another, while this accident coverage is not. You should compare plans to make sure you have the coverage you need or desire.In making this plan available, the Board wishes to make its position clear in the matter of insurance. Under the Education Act, the Board is not permitted to provide insurance coverage for accidents to pupils, therefore, the Board recommends consideration of this plan to any parent who wishes to obtain this kind of insurance. It is a time to mourn the children who never returned home, and to honour the Survivors, their families, and their communities.  This day is part of a broader conversation about colonization and systemic inequities. As we learn, it is essential to recognize and uplift Indigenous resilience and resistance, which continue to shape and strengthen communities across the country. On September 30, all LDSB schools, education centres, and sites will lower all school flags to half-mast, in observance of this day. The LDSB Indigenous Education team has put in significant work for supporting a wide range of learning across the system, including the recent launch of Limestone's access to On-Core. On-Core is an online learning platform that provides teachers with high-quality, curriculum-aligned resources.
